What is in an IDE?
An IDE is an Integrated Development Environment. It is called Integrated because it has all of the functions necessary for Development in its Environment. This usually includes a compiler, debugger, editor, and project manager. In most commercial environments that is totally Integrated.
What is wrong with current IDEs?
These commercial environments do not allow you to easily choose another compiler or allow you to test using its IDE with other compilers. Project Management is also commonly a feature lacking in a few of these packages
What about all those free IDEs?
There are a multitude of free editors and IDEs that will do a lot of things for you, but some of these free IDEs have a very large size compared to their features, have very bad (featureless) or no project management.
Why use TheIDE?
TheIDE is being designed to be full of futures while being small in size. TheIDE is being made to be an alternative to many of the current free and commercial IDEs where the developer is concerned with compiler independance.
Have any feature charts?
Below is a table that looks similar to what you might see on a commercial site describing features that it has that others do not, with one exception, we will be listing features we are not planning for either.

2 Due to the nature of these products, it is dependant on the chosen compiler. |
